Jaxson Bartsch
Personal Profile
My name is Jaxson Bartsch, and I’m a 2009 hockey player with a deep and genuine love for the game. Hockey has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’m a competitor at heart and pride myself on being the kind of player who will do whatever it takes to help my team win—whether that means blocking a shot, finishing a check, taking the final shot, or setting up the game-winning goal.

Throughout my career, I’ve always focused on playing a balanced 200-foot game. I take as much pride in breaking up a play in the defensive zone as I do in scoring or creating chances in the offensive zone. I’m a physical player who plays tough, doesn’t shy away from contact, and understands that effort, grit, and discipline are just as important as skill. I thrive on being counted on in crucial moments, and I want to be the kind of teammate others can rely on in any situation.

For years, I played defence and loved the responsibility that came with shutting down top players and controlling the pace of the game from the back end. But in 2023, my coach approached me about transitioning to forward to help the team. Without hesitation, I said yes—because that’s what the team needed. Almost immediately, I discovered a new passion for playing a more offensive role. I embraced the challenge and worked hard to adapt, developing my puck handling, shot, and playmaking abilities while bringing my defensive awareness into my forward play.

The transition has been rewarding and has helped me grow as a player and leader. That growth culminated in being named the 2025 CSSHL League MVP—an honour I share with my teammates and coaches who pushed me to become better every day. But individual awards are never the goal. My focus is on team success, helping my teammates shine, and finding ways to contribute every shift.

My ultimate goal is to play at the highest level of hockey possible and earn a scholarship to continue developing as both a player and a student. I bring effort, heart, and a team-first mindset to everything I do. Hockey is more than just a sport to me—it’s my passion, my purpose, and my future.
